Arrival Time Is Not Ready Time
The time on the ticket is when the aircraft is scheduled to reach the gate. Add immigration when applicable, baggage, oversized gear, rental-car or pickup coordination, traffic, food, lodging check-in, and the rider briefing. The usable evening can disappear quickly.
Late Arrival Moves Work Into Ride Day
When fitment, gear sizing, paperwork, and bike questions do not happen on arrival, they happen in the morning. That can turn a calm first ride into a rushed departure and put the rider on an unfamiliar bike before the basics feel settled.
Choose the Airport With the Whole Route
LAX, Ontario, and San Diego can each be the right answer. Compare the flight, landing time, baggage risk, actual ground transfer, lodging base, and first target track together. The closest airport on a map is not always the shortest travel day.
Protect the Return Too
The same logic applies on departure. A final ride needs time for load-out, gear, showers, traffic, fuel stops, baggage, and security. A trip should end with a clean margin, not a sprint from the track to the gate.
